The Senate President of Nigeria Bukola Saraki has said that the Senate Committee on finance and public account will do a thorough job in it's investigation into the use of REMITA (the software company used for the facilitation of the TSA) following the allegation from Senator Dino Malaye.
Senator Dino Malaye a Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial district elected under the platform of the APC at the last general elections, had earlier claimed illegality and exorbitant commission charged for the deployment of REMITA, an e-payment software used for the facilitation of Federal Government's funds from financial institutions into a single treasury account (TSA).
Senator Dino Melaye alleged that; REMITA collected N25 billion Naira "for doing nothing", and argued that the use of REMITA was a violation of Section 162(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which states that:
"The federation shall mentain a special account into which all revenues collected by the Government of the federation except the proceeds from the personal income tax of the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Federation, the Nigerian police force, the ministry and department of Government charged with foreign affairs and the residents of the FCT Abuja."
Speaking on Monday,November 16, 2015 through his twitter account @bukolasaraki, the Nigerian Senate President who himself is currently facing corruption charges at the Code of Conduct Tribunal said that the issue is very important.
The Senate President tweets;
"TSA issue is a very important subject. The committee will do a diligent job that will come up with standard and quantify nature of the motion".
