A powerful bomb explosion was reported to have occurred on Tuesday evening of November 17, 2015 ripping through a vegetable market at the lorry park along Jimet a bypass at Yola, Adamawa State of Nigeria, just as traders were locking up for the day.
It is gathered from reports that several people are believed to have been killed from the explosion. An eyewitness account disclosed that no fewer than at least 20 persons must have died. it is believed that the bomb blast was perpetuated by Boko Haram insurgents.
The explosion is reported to have occurred about 8:20pm around Jamhit area of Adamawa's State capital. Although, it was not immediately clear whether the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber or an improvised explosive devise.
According to, Sa'ad Bello; the Yola coordinator of the National Emergency Response Management Agency (NERMA), "So far, we've recorded about 32 dead and about 80 injured", he said.
The Red cross and the State divisional police gave a slightly lower toll of 31 dead and 72 injured.
President Buhari had earlier on in the month visited Yola and has decorated soldiers for bravery in counter-insurgency, from reports he told troop that, "Boko Haram are very close to defeat" and urged soldiers "to remain vigilante, alert and focused to prevent Book Haram from sneaking into our communities to attack soft targets".
