From the news as reported from Channels TV, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria has rendered unreserved apology to Nigerians. This was done by the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the PDP National Conference scheduled to hold on Wednesday November 12, 2015.
Mr. Raymond Dokpesi stated that the PDP were apologising to Nigerians for not conducting a proper Primaries by allowing a level playing field for all the candidates, in the last PDP National primaries that produced former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the Presidential candidate.
That this was a mistake which cost the party the loss the Presidential seat to the opposition party which is the APC and have also made the party to experience severe losses at state levels and had lost in several states in the country which the party had formerly had as their stronghold at the elections.
According to Mr. Raymond Dokpesi,the PDP apologises also in not taking a proper stand against corruption before now, and also apologies are being made to the founding fathers of the PDP that their original intents and purpose in founding the party initially was being deviated from.
He further more stated that, the National conference is aimed at bringing in the the founding members of the party to re-instill the original values of the party on all it's members.
According to the reports, the National Conference of the party on November 12, 2015, is aimed at rebranding the party and to pave the way for the emergence of a brand new invigorated "PDP", as the largest party in Africa which is a position that the PDP have been enjoying being the dominant party in Nigeria until it lost this position at the last general elections in Nigeria.
